About Me

Hi, I’m Fable!

My pronouns are it/its.

I’ve been known by a few names over the years, but my current chosen name is Fable. I am a neurodivergent, agender creative who does gamedev, reverse engineering, art, and, hopefully, writing. I am fairly concerned with matters of preservation, so a lot of my efforts are focused on attempts to preserve games I played in the past that are at risk of being forgotten. I also do reviews of games and movies and am looking into streaming, which would mostly be gamedev streaming, but might also end up being some game streaming.

Hobbies include playing guitar, building Gundam models, and collecting stuffed animals and other interesting toys.

I have a fear of being known/recognized over long periods of time, but I’m trying to work past that. To that end, here’s a list of some of the things I’ve made or been involved in in the past.

  • Another Day, Another Game/Plucky Porcupine Game Boutique, which resulted in a number of prototypes and the game WizFight, all of which can be found here
  • Writing for the following outlets:
    • RegretZero (? 2012 to January 2015)
    • GameWalkers (January to May 2015)
    • MMOs.com (July 2015 to May 2017)
    • Two Credits (May 2017 to November 2017, July 2020 to August 2020)
  • Moderating a gamedev Discord server with more than 500 members
  • An attempt to resurrect the Fortress programming language
  • raylib bindings for the Carp (mine were superseded) and Mosaic programming languages
  • An attempt to modernize Toadwater
  • An attempt to modernize The Realm Online, which ended up falling apart when, after around 20 years of relative stagnation, the current owners decided to start modernizing it themselves
  • Various mods for various games
  • Various reverse engineering projects

Going forward, I’m splitting my current efforts into two categories: my original works will mostly be on this site, while any kind of fan content will be over on the DMCA Games website.

I also still write reviews of games for fun over on Backloggd and review movies, as well, over on Letterboxd.

  • Some of my favorite movies include The People’s Joker and Kiki’s Delivery Service.
  • My favorite bands/musicians right now include Shaboozey, SOFT PLAY, DURRY, Rivals, Iniko, The Maine, Hotel Mira, flor, KennyHoopla, Piff Marti, Christian Crosby, Troi Irons, Bloodywood, Electric Callboy, Alice Longyu Gao, and The Reign of Kindo.
  • My favorite Pokemon are Bulbasaur, Dhelmise, Lapras, Lugia, Cubone, Marowak, Alakazam, and Articuno.
  • I rewatch sitcoms a lot.
  • As a kid, I once wrote Star Fox fanfic.
  • I played Linkrealms so much that I wrote literally the entire Wiki, documenting basically the entire game in the process, and held the in-game title of Wiki Admin.
  • An interview I did for Two Credits was once used in a lecture on non-linear narrative at the University of Plymouth.
  • I once pissed off Chris Crawford with my opinions on how narrative games should evolve to the point that I’m not sure that I’m not the reason that, after he “gave up” on inspiring new developers to follow in his footsteps, he instead formed a committee to make the fourth(?) evolution of Erasmatron/Storytron.
